This lovely itinerary allows you to explore the beauty of Sri Lanka at fairly relaxed pace, providing a great introduction to the unique history, stunning countryside and tropical landscapes of the island. With time plenty of time for exploration and relaxation it provides a lovely flow and rhythm.

As the second largest city in Sri Lanka there is plenty to do and see here especially as an important pilgrimage destination.

From Kandy you will take a train to Nuwara Eliya, which is a fantastic experience and a brilliant way to see the countryside as you pass by the rolling hills and tea plantations.Known as 'Little England', this is a lovely area to spend a couple of days. With properties coming complete with beautifully manicured croquet lawns, colonial era buildings and surrounded by tea plantations it is no wonder it has the persona it does. We would suggest spending a couple of days unwinding here with a couple of walks through the plantations and tours through tea factories.
