Hatton
Hatton is best reached by train, trundling slowly through an almost impossibly green landscape and past tiny stations complete with quaint British names and neatly manicured gardens. This is the hill country at its best, an undulating landscape of tea plantations, their blanket of emerald green only punctuated by the colorful clothes of the tea pickers.
A stay in a converted tea bungalow such as Ceylon Tea Trails provides a chance to step back in time and get a literal taste of life on a tea estate. Walk through the row upon row of perfectly pruned tea bushes, taking in the staggering views of the misty hills before returning to a freshly brewed cup of tea on the veranda.
