Winter (June to August) days are warm (temperatures in the mid-twenties) evenings and early mornings very cold with average early morning temperatures 5-12 degrees. The Marataba Conservation Explorers Camp is a fabulous property boasting views of the Waterberg Massif and a prolific waterhole, where thirsty elephants are likely to be spotted. As well as 5 canvas double tents, there is also a two-bedroom family tent.

Located in a privately managed section of the Marakele National Park, Marataba is located in an enviable area where lush bushveld backs onto the Kalahari sands in the Limpopo Province. It can be argued that Marataba is one of the country's most impressive conservation models, and this is visible through its spectacular flora and fauna offering, as well as the diversity of wildlife.

Lending itself to this unique and impressive region, the Marataba Conservation Camps offer a conservation-focussed experience where guests come away having made a true impact on the ecological conservation and wildlife manageable, all whilst enjoying restful and attractive facilities, and spectacular game drives through the National Park.

Explorers Camp can be booked on a semi-exclusive use basis and is made up of 5 double tents and 1 family tent. The camp boasts spectacuar views of Waterberg Massif, as well as an active waterhole which lies directily in front of the property - if you're lucky, you'll be able to spot elephants stopping for a quick drink! The tents have been tastefully designed to capture the Marataba with natural fabrics, wooden furniture and metal details.

When not adventuring on game drives or assisting with conservation programs, there's a swimming pool to cool off in, an evening firepit, and a larged fenced garden for families to enjoy.

As well as land safaris, guests can take part in boat cruises along the river, hiking excursions and walking safaris. For those who are keen to get stuck in with conservation programs, there is plenty on offer from wildlife interventions to predator management, and camera trap set ups to community outreach programs. If you manage to spot a rhino whilst on safari, you may have the chance to observe a rhino ear notch identification.
