The shining star however is the Owners Cottage which sleeps four and really is our faveourite due to the large infinity pool with views over the ocean.

Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
The climate in New Zealand is incredibly pleasant, with warm and balmy summers and cold crisp winter months with wonderful clear, blue skies. The warmer high-season months of November to April are perfect for outdoor exploration. The colder months of June to August are the best time to ski.
Both North and South Islands are drier on the east coast, rather than on the west, where mountain ranges act as a trap for the moisture-rich winds from the Tasman Sea. It is also worth remembering that it is usually a few degrees cooler on the South Island than the North Island and as New Zealand has a maritime climate, the weather can change rapidly.

Reviews
Jules Maury (Staff)
The owner of Matakuri, The Farm at Cape Kidnappers had a eye for beautiful locations and a love of golf. Kauri Cliffs is part of that journey and perhaps the most conservative in decor of the three. Designed like an old style Charleston mansion which is where he hailed from, the lodge comprises the Great House and then suites running along to the left of the property looking out to sea. Culminating in yet again a wonderful Owners two bedroom lodge for which this collection is famous the decor everywhere is in muted colors to bring in the colors of the sky and views to the sea. Gracious rooms for dining and relaxing with soaring ceilings spill onto verandas that wrap around the main house. The Spa is very special and one of the last masterpieces completed by the owner's late wife who was beloved by all and had so much input into the Virginia Fischer designs and different moods of each property. For golfers these places rate up with with the best in the world and are one for the tick box but if you are not a golfer this does not feel like a corporate golfing estate at all. Cocktails and picnic Barbecues are de rigueur. On Pink Beach and arriving or departing here by helicopter and flying over the Bay of Islands is a once in a lifetime experience. Martin and his team run a tight ship and there is so much to do for everyone. Great food and so many activities make this a special place for a few days to chill and enjoy the beautiful Bay of Islands.

The staff clearly adore the property and are justly incredibly proud to work there. Their warmth and enthusiasm is infectious and help make you feel totally at ease there. You cannot help fall in love with the place. Not just a haven for golfers; there is something for everyone here, from the spa, gym, indoor and outdoor pool, to the tennis courts, mountain biking, trekking and horse riding. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, all with balconies and impeccable views across the rolling hills and Bay of Islands.

Kauri Cliffs is a stunning lodge set in 6500 acres of farmland and landscaped gardens. It is also based around a world-class golf course all overlooking the Pacific Ocean, ideal for the avid golfer looking for a course with a difference!
All rooms are beautifully decorated in neutral beiges and light blues, reflecting the stunning beaches and clear azure skies, each with a large walk in wardrobe, open fireplace and grey slate bathroom with separate bath and shower.
