Central Nepal
Central Nepal consists of the region between Kathmandu and Pokhara containing the small towns of Nuwakot, Gorkha, Kurintar, the Trisuli River & Bandipur. These areas have not seen much of an influx of tourists, and therefore remain authentic and untouched.
There is one major road which links Kathmandu and Pokhara, the Tribhuven Highway which takes about 5-6 hours to travel along. Between Kathmandu and Pokhara are a number of small villages and towns which make for a remote stop along the way. To the north-west of Kathmandu lies Nuwakot, a charming fortified hill station. The Highway then meets the Trisuli River. To the north you will find Gorkha, once home to Prthvi Narayan Shah you unified Nepal in the 18th century, and from whom the former Royal Family was descended. Further along the Highway you come to Bandipur, again a lovely Himalayan village which has banned traffic from the center and a great place to add into an itinerary should you not want to fly between Kathmandu and Pokhara.
