The rooms at Mushara Lodge are curled in a horseshoe shape around a beautiful swimming pool on the edge of the famous Etosha National Park. Great attention has been paid to the décor, which boasts an eclectic mix of traditional African and modern art. The name Mushara itself derives from the Purple Pod Terminalia tree, which grows in abundance in the lodge grounds and the surrounding area.
The 14 cottages, each with an open terrace, are simply decorated and air-conditioned. The public area consists of a small library with a good selection of books, bar with extensive wine cellar, dining area, well-stocked curio shop and an airy lounge with welcoming fireplace (perfect for cool winter evenings).
The eastern gate of the Etosha National Park is just 8 kilometers away and guests can enjoy game drives into the park as well as safaris on foot. Etosha National Park is one of Southern Africa’s finest and most important Game Reserves, which was declared a National Park in 1907. The park covers an area of 22 270 km² and is home to 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and one species of fish.
