This relaxing two-center vacation perfectly showcases the best of Malaysia, from the modern and cosmopolitan city of Kuala Lumpur with its glitzy restaurants and rooftop bars to the untouched paradise, jungle-clad island of Langkawi. Get a feel for this incredibly diverse country through its fast-paced metropolis and gorgeous sun-soaked, palm-fringed beaches.

  1. Fly to Kuala Lumpur

  2. Days 1-3: Kuala Lumpur

Your romantic getaway begins in Malaysia’s state-of-the-art capital city, Kuala Lumpur. You’ll be met upon arrival and guided through the chaotic traffic to Villa Samadhi, a hidden gem of a boutique hotel. It offers a funky chilled-out retreat, just minutes from the hustle and bustle of the buzzy metropolis, ideal for those who want the best of both worlds. The wonderfully spacious rooms, with Asian inspired décor, dreamy beds and enormous bathrooms all have an outdoor terrace leading out to the lagoon-shaped pool, fringed with wispy grasses, tall palms and shaded sun loungers. Don’t miss the complimentary cocktail hour each evening out on the terrace, providing the perfect interlude between a busy day of exploring and getting ready for dinner back out on the town.

Made famous by the dominating Petronas Towers, which loom grandly from just about everywhere at street level, KL epitomizes a modern Asian city. Dine at exclusive restaurants (the knowledgeable hotel staff will gladly make recommendations and book you a table) or sip cocktails from the glitzy rooftop sky-bars with jaw-dropping views out over the twinkling city skyline.

To ease you into the city’s frenetic pace and introduce you to the smells and flavors of Asian street food, we’ve included a fun guided tour around Kuala Lumpur's bustling and photogenic Chinatown area. Wind through tight alleys and enjoy a selection of food tastings, ranging from the traditional to the rather more unusual, guaranteed to excite your taste buds! Pop in and have a look around some of the nearby temples, if that takes your fancy too.

Left to your own devices, explore the traditional markets for gorgeous handmade artifacts or something new to hang on your wall back home, alternatively hit the city’s high-end boutiques for some proper retail therapy. For intrepid couples, escape the confines of the metropolis to visit the impressive Batu Caves. These sacred caves are highly revered by many Malaysians and an afternoon here admiring the many ornate temples and shrines that surround the network of caves will allow you to see a different side to Kuala Lumpur - where history and culture stand side-by-side with modernity.

    Accommodation: Villa Samadhi (2 nights)

  3. Days 3-9: Langkawi

After a few days, you’ll be ready to swap the city for a tropical paradise of crystal-clear emerald waters, lush green jungle and sweeping golden bays. Hop on a short flight and you’ll soon be basking in the sun on one of Langkawi Island’s pristine beaches or heading with a mask and snorkel to discover the region’s technicolored marine life. In fact, the idyllic retreat we’ve picked for you, the luxurious Datai Langkawi, sits on a secluded crescent-shaped pocket of paradise, which the National Geographic has named as one of top 10 beaches in the world!

With a stunning pristine rainforest backdrop, this well-established high-end hotel is consistently one of our favorites. With its faultless service, unique rooms and villas (some with private pools), exceptional dining options and superb range of facilities, it is an unashamedly perfect beach retreat. Spend your days hiking the island’s dense jungle whilst keeping an eye out for colorful birds and inquisitive monkeys or participate in a variety of water sports including sea-kayaking, windsurfing, and sailing. There are boats tours to scenic uninhabited islands, options to go diving and mountain bikes to explore the interior as well. For those missing the fairway, there’s even an 18-hole golf course!

Those who simply want to laze around on a sun lounger beside the pool or let their feet to sink into the warm, soft sand will be well taken care of by the bar staff, who’ll happily fix your favorite tipple and keep it topped up until you nod off in the afternoon sun, with the sound of the waves gently lapping the shore. The hotel spa, beautifully integrated into the jungle is noteworthy for its signature treatments and holistic experiences, designed to relax, rejuvenate and revitalise both your body and mind.

On your final day, enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a final dip in the ocean, before waving goodbye to the beach and traveling back to the airport to continue your journey home.
