Sasaab camp is closed in November.
The main season is in January and February, when the weather is hottest and driest. At this time, the animals in the wildlife parks tend to congregate more around the watercourses, making them easier to spot.
Northern and eastern Kenya temperatures vary from highs of up to 40°C during the day to less than 20°C at night. Rainfall in this area is sparse and, when it does occur, is often in the form of violent storms. July is usually the driest month, and November the wettest.

Description
This stylishly decorated tented lodge has a Moroccan feel to it and wonderful views. The Lodge has fantastic game viewing just on the edge of Samburu National Reserve. There are nine Moroccan thatched and canvas suites each with a private plunge pool.
Situated above the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, in the arid heart of Samburu land, Sasaab’s tranquil setting offers views towards the Laikipia plateau and of Mount Kenya.
The main area sits on a high rocky ridge allowing one to enjoy the spectacular views through the Moroccan interior and courtyard. The swimming pool is perched on the hillside overlooking the river, so you can relax in its cool waters and watch game come down to drink at the river.
Sasaab has eight beautiful tented suites which have a thatched roof to provide shade and keep the tents cool. Each suite is over one hundred square meters in size and has a four poster bed. The room extends out to the verandah and private plunge pool with views overlooking the river and wildlife below. Cottage eight consists of two rooms sharing a plunge pool, perfect for families or small groups.
Massage and beauty treatments are offered from the privacy of your tent or in the beautiful 'Spasaab' upon the banks of the river. Sasaab offers a true wilderness experience with excursions into the famous Samburu National Reserve known for its large herds of Elephant and the endangered Grevy Zebra.
Strong emphasis is placed on the highest quality and freshest products, and the dishes are of a Moroccan influence.
From Sassab guests can also experience camping under the stars, in a new location every night, with only a mosquito net between you and the African sky. The experienced guide will find remote spots and set up a simple fly camp with only the bare necessities. ‘Fly’ is the name of the upper sheet of a tent and in the early days of the Safari, a hunter would simply take the upper sheet and sleep underneath it. Guests can enjoy a good walk around the camping area, or just be alone in the African bush in our tranquil locations far from any distractions. After your excursion, enjoy comforts like hot water showers and simple but delicious meals by the fire.
