An exciting wilderness experience exploring Laikipia
Karisia Walking Safaris is an exciting and unique way to explore the remote Laikipia region of Kenya and enjoy an off-the-beaten-track experience. With accommodation in fully-serviced luxury mobile camps, Karisia is the perfect balance between an adventurous walking safari by day and comfortable camping by night. Each walk-in tent provides comfy mattresses and luxury bedding, and each is equipped with a headlamp and solar lights as well as a toilet, wash basin and hot water shower behind your tent. A small veranda area is created with director's chairs so that you can enjoy the view. Camp is broken down each day by a team of dedicated staff and transported by camels to the next site, leaving you free to walk with just a day pack.
Karisia Walking Safaris range in length from a two night hike to a six night trail and as they are completely exclusive and personalized to individual guests, there is something to suit everyone. Walking safaris give you the chance to see the bush from a whole new perspective and it is on a walking safari that you gain a better understanding of the smaller elements of the bush that you would normally miss on a game drive. As well as the wildlife that you will see, the walking safaris are led by Samburu guides who will give you an authentic insight into their rich history and culture.
Each safari traverses through some of the most beautiful areas in Kenya and gives you the chance to see some of the rarer animals such as aardwolfs, wild dog and the white-tailed mongoose. All of the walks are led by local Masai and Samburu guides, who all have an extensive knowledge of the area and the wildlife, as well as being excellent company and engaging with younger participants.
When to visit
Rock climbing is such a fun activity you can do while on a Karisia walking safari. The guides are all well trained and look after you as you scale the most epic rock faces.
