Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

For a small country, Jordan has an extraordinary range of climates. The best time to visit climate-wise is in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when the daytime temperatures aren't too extreme. April is probably the best month, when temperatures are warm and wildflowers are in bloom. March can be cold and rainy in the north but is balmy by the Gulf of Aqaba and the Dead Sea.

Insider's View

Head into town for some local seafood. It is quite an easy walk and gives you a good opportunity to visit a Jordanian town.

Aqua Lounge is the best place for sundowners

If you are coeliac, the chef will happily make you gluten-free pancakes for breakfast - make sure you warn them!

The pool is very stylish, with a number of different areas meaning you can do laps, lie in the shallows or enjoy a cocktail or two at the swim-up bar.

For some extra indulgence, the Jacuzzi bathtubs in the Executive Panoramic Suites are pretty amazing!

To start planning your vacation to Kempinski Aqaba

The Kempinski Aqaba has 200 rooms and suites, all of which overlook the Red Sea, due to the curved design of the hotel. The decor is clean and contemporary with a bit of a seaside feel, featuring lots of bright whites and blues.

There are a number of dining options, including AM/PM, the main restaurant which serves breakfast and dinner. The Walk is located along the beachfront offering food such as pizza as a lunchtime option. Seafood is served at Fish In, and Aqua Lounge and Sea Breeze are also quite informal. Black Pearl, the hotel's sports bar, is open until the early hours.

The hotel has a spa equipped with a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi, as well as treatment rooms for a range of beauty therapies and massages. Some local products are used, which contain Dead Sea mud and salt, as well as thalassotherapy. The Kempinski Aqaba is a very modern and light hotel right on the shores of the Dead Sea. It definitely has a seaside feel, including (tasteful) fish and coral patterns on the bed linen.

The bathrooms are very nice, with a glass wall meaning you can lie in the bath looking across your room out to the sea. There are of course blinds to pull down over the wall!

There is complimentary internet in all of the rooms, however this is through a cable rather than wireless. Wi-Fi is available in the lobby.

The pool is lovely, with quite a quirky design. There are different sections which are good for children to splash around, swimming laps, or relaxing in the water. There is also a swim-up bar.

It is worth noting that Aqaba is a port town. Therefore there are often shipping containers and ships out in the bay, and there are also dock stations along the coast. Whilst this doesn't have any particularly negative impact, it does mean the view isn't perhaps as idyllic as other destinations.

This was one of my favorite hotels in Jordan, with its light and airy atmosphere and beautiful bathrooms. The beach is great and the food on the Walk is very well situated for those who don't want to move very far to get a snack or lunch. I found the seafood a bit overpriced, particularly as it is quite easy to get into the town for some local seafood, but it was still of a very good standard and the service was excellent.
