Highlights
Set in a peaceful location on the outskirts of a village close to Petra
The Hyatt Zaman has plenty of character, built in and around a traditional Jordanian village
There is an outdoor pool, although this is seasonal, and a Hamman
This is a lovely alternative to the more international-style hotels which are common in Jordan
The Hayat Zaman has been built in and around what was once a traditional village. The hotel has maintained most of the original architecture, with plenty of local stone and winding pathways. The 111 rooms and suites are all different, with many featuring archways and split levels. The decor is in keeping with the local feel, using traditional furnishings and materials.
There is one main restaurant, Sahtain, which provides Middle Eastern and international buffet and a la carte options. The Diwa Coffee Shop has a pleasant terrace, where it is possible to relax and take in the wonderful views over the mountains, as well as enjoy a traditional hookah pipe should you wish. There is also an enticing local bakery on-site, boasting a variety of Middle Eastern breads and pastries.
The Hayat Zaman has an inviting outdoor pool, although it is worth being aware that Jordan can get cold in the winter, and so this is seasonal. For an extra Arabian indulgence, the hotel also has a traditional Hammam.
