Once a Bourbon-era fish hatchery, it has been thoughtfully reimagined as a five-star retreat that makes the most of its extraordinary waterfront setting, with the sea on one side and a string of tranquil pools on the other. With only 13 rooms and suites, stays here feel wonderfully exclusive and deeply relaxed.
Rooms are set along a low-slung stone building, each with either a private patio opening onto the pools or a terrace poised above the water. Interiors are cool and understated, all white linens, natural stone and pale woods that allow the endless blue views to take center stage. Choose a Pool Room if you like to drift between lounger and lagoon-like pool, or opt for a Sunrise, Sunshine or Panorama Sea View Room to wake to the sun lifting directly out of the Adriatic from your terrace. Most rooms feature a comfortable double bed, air conditioning, well-appointed bathrooms and thoughtful touches such as minibars and plush bathrobes.
The rhythm of life at La Peschiera follows the water. A thalassic concept of seven sea-fed pools, plunges and cascades stretches in front of the guestrooms, while just beyond lies the hotel’s private beach, complete with parasols and loungers set on the rocks and sand. Days are easily spent moving between the pools, the calm shallows of the sea and the terrace, where breakfast, long seafood lunches and candlelit dinners are served.
