Straddling the equator, the Indonesian Archipelago enjoys a warm tropical climate all year round, with a distinct wet and dry season. The wet season generally runs from October to April and the dry season tends to last from May to September, with days characterized by high temperatures and clear skies. Islands further east, such as Lombok, Flores and Komodo, experience more pronounced seasonal differences, with monsoon rains in the wet season and periods of drought in the dry season. The eastern islands of Java, Sumatra and Bali experience more intermittent rainfall in the wet season, when visitors can benefit from cooler temperatures and reduced crowds.
