Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – dry (between May to September) and wet (between October to April) – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Bali at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.

With its blend of cutting edge design, refined service and lavish comfort, the newly opened Samaya Ubud is home to some of Bali's most contemporary luxury pool villas set in a stunning tropical location, just outside of Ubud.
Ubud is well known to be Bali's cultural and artistic heart and has the appeal of the eclectic mix of cultures it attracts, the strong sense of Balinese tradition and the verdant peaceful tropical countryside which surrounds it. The Samaya is within easy reach of this diversity and yet sits in a tranquil riverside location and could be miles form anywhere.
Sister hotel to the fabulous Samaya in Seminyak, one of our favorite properties on the island, the new Samaya Ubud is a fantastic example of modern island luxury. Nineteen contemporary private pool villas are located amongst the lush rice paddies, some are set on the hillside and others next to the Ayung River.
The one, two and three bedroom villas have an elegant contemporary design and are filled with natural light. Modern comforts such as LCD TV players, wireless internet and bose iPod docking stations are standard, and for anything you need your private butler is on hand to make your stay as soothing and personally tailored as possible.
There are two restaurants serving delicious gourmet cuisine. 'Scene' is open in the evenings and serves modern eclectic dishes focusing strongly on local organic produce. 'Swept Away' is the perfect location for an informal healthy lunch, afternoon snack, leisurely dinner or a cocktail lying in a lounger overlooking the river.
Samaya Ubud's spa and wellness center perches over the Ayung River and is an idyllic spot for relaxation and rejuvenation and treatments are also available in the comfort and privacy of your own villa.
The Samaya Ubud is perfect place from which to explore the local area. Not only can you visit the charming town close by, but the hotel can also organize a variety of cultural excursions and activities such as cycling, hiking and nature walks. However, the tranquillity and fabulous service at The Samaya Ubud may mean that you find it hard to leave at all.

Here service is most definitely with a smile from their charming and infectiously enthusiastic staff. The 19 villas are scattered around the grounds and all come with a super size pool. The two restaurants take advantage of both the impressive views from the top of the resort and the atmospheric flowing Ayann River at the bottom of the resort. At night they light up the place with candles and it is a wonderfully romantic spot, especially if you opt for private dining on the bank of the river where they light 100 candles around you. It is incredibly personal and has a real charm to it as a fantastic boutique option.

Set by the Ayung River, the Samaya Ubud is a tropical oasis, offering one the chance to relax and completely switch off, whether you wish to explore Ubud and the rice fields or unwind at the resort. The villas are all very spacious and each feature their own private pool, and 24 hour butler service. The resort's spa overlooks the Ayung River, allowing guests to enjoy a treatment with an incredible view. The highlight of my stay was dining at 'Swept Away' which also overlooks the river, and you can choose between the a la carte or the degustation menu.

The sister property to of our favorite properties here at Scott Dunn, the Samaya, the new and beautiful Samaya Ubud is a delight. Nestled into the side of the Ayung Gorge with stunning views of sloping paddy fields and swaying palms, the location of the property means that it feels utterly hidden and completely private. My personal favorite were the Hillside Villas, with enormous private gardens and pools and lofty, spacious villas decorated in the signature sleek Samaya style. With crisp white linens adorning the beds in the center of the rooms, they are really romantic, spacious and incredibly stylish. The Ayung Villas are situated next to the river, with little deck areas that over look the river idling by, you can hear it bubbling past from the comfort of your private pool! There is a choice of two great restaurants, ‘Scene’ and ‘Swept Away’ and you are also close enough to Ubud to explore the fabulous cafes and restaurants there.
