Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – dry (between May to September) and wet (between October to April) – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Bali at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.

If you're planning on spending a few nights in Seminyak, then The Samaya is a wonderful choice. The hotel is made up of a series of private pool villas, some of which are located on the beachfront and others which are set back, closer towards the shops. The villas are extremely spacious, luxurious and all feature a private swimming pool, as well as 24 hour butler service. The hotels restaurant is located right on the beachfront, so you're in for a real treat when you wake up for breakfast. As well as the main pool, The Samaya Spa and onsite activities, the hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle to Seminyak, allowing you to explore the town at your own convenience.

For me this beautifully designed hotel is a perfect base in Seminyak. Perched directly on the beach with a row of sunloungers taking full advantage of the views and a glorious main swimming pool, you feel instantly relaxed. As all the villas here have their own private pool, the public areas are always incredibly peaceful, and have an exclusive feel to them. The villas are fantastically spacious with enormous bathrooms complete with a Jacuzzi bath and outdoor shower. Afternoon tea and their selection of cakes are served from wherever you decide to take it. At night the place takes on a different feel and is lit up with twinkling lights and candles, making dinner perched just on the waters edge a hugely appealing and romantic option. The food here is exquisite and there is something to suite all tastes and requirements.

From the moment I walked into the impressive lobby at the Samaya Seminyak, I was looked after extremely well. I was given a Frangipani necklace on arrival and escorted to my pool villa where a cold fresh welcome drink was awaiting me. I was spoiled for choice as to where to relax in the sun; my pool villa had a wonderful private pool which was great for a quick cool down. During the day, the decking overlooking Seminyak beach is lined with sun loungers, and during the evening, the sun loungers are swapped for dining tables, allowing guests to fully appreciate the spectacular ambience, and the sounds of the waves. The complimentary shuttle service into Seminyak was a very convenient way to explore the surrounding area, and of course to pop in and out of the wonderful shops. The Samaya really is a truly romantic resort, and has the perfect balance of being peaceful, yet set in the heart of Seminyak.
