The younger sister of Ahilya Fort, Ahilya by the Sea is a former guesthouse turned boutique hotel tucked away on the south of Coco Beach, Goa. With a Portuguese-colonial style and Balinese touches, watch the fisherman sail by as you unwind in the gardens.
Set in the quiet fishing village of Nerul overlooking the Arabian Sea, Ahilya by the Sea offers a quaint seaside retreat for those looking for an intimate and restful stay.
With room to accommodate up to twenty guests, there are three villas to choose from. Every room features one-of-a-kind pieces and antiques and all boast excellent views to wake up to. These three villas that make up the unique property are surrounded by lush gardens and two lap pools, perfect for cooling off in during the heat of the day. Around the hotel guests can curl up with a book or lay out on the comfortable sun loungers, enjoying the laid back atmosphere of Ahilya.
Guests wishing to explore outside this tranquil setting can head to the nearby beaches of vibrant Candolim, Baga and Calangute. For something more cultural, why not experience what old Goa and Panjim have to offer. In the city of Panjim, just 30-minutes away by car you'll find the Latin Quarter or Fontainhas, teeming with European flair and beautiful whitewashed UNESCO World Heritage Churches.
There are just three villas to choose from at Ahilya By the Sea, all decorated in a mix of Balinese and traditional Goan style. Expect unique art piece and antiques in keeping with the hotel's eclectic feel.
The Sunrise Villa has three bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms and views overlooking the sea. Downstairs a private dining room opens onto the cool and breezy verandah.
With four sea facing bedrooms, a family room and dining area with kitchenette, the Sunset Villa is perfect for families.
The Leela Villa has one room, perfect for couples. The Trinidade Suite here overlooks the garden and allows guests to relax in the private living area.
Children are very welcome to stay at Ahilya By the Sea which offers a family friendly atmosphere but the hotel is better suited to older children. Please also be aware there are no specific facilities available for them.
There are two pools and plenty of sun loungers for basking in the sun, but if you would like to truly unwind, book a massage or Ayurvedic treatment in the treehouse spa. Dine in different locations around the property, with staff often organising candlelight alfresco dinners. Ahilya serves both Indian and international cuisine and caters to both your tastes and dietary requirements.
Explore Goa's colonial past by partaking in some of the hotel's experiences on offer. Visit Panjim, the capital of Goa with its historic churches and Portguese influences, head to Arpora Village on a Saturday to sample local delicacies at the night market, or go hiking in the surrounding area of this sleepy state.
