Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
With moderate winters and summers, this is a perfect place to visit in the Spring, Summer and Fall. A spring in France provides the right climate for the picturesque green hills with pretty flowers and calm weather. April showers occur on occasion, but it is nothing an umbrella cannot handle. Spring and summer are especially lovely because of the beauty that these seasons bestow upon the French countryside, however, the Fall months make travel and sightseeing very comfortable - even with the occasional drizzle and chillier conditions in the evenings as the end of the Fall draws in.

Description
The Domaine Hauts de Loire is a former 19th century hunting lodge which has been transformed into an elegant luxury hotel and proudly stands in the very heart of the Loire Valley, its vast chateaux and vineyards all within close reach.
This charming property is part of the Relais & Chateaux group, synonymous with unique, characterful accommodation and exceptional cuisine. A stunning ivy-clad mansion house situated on a 70 hectare estate within the Loire Valley wine route in the village of Onzain, the property also has a variety of woodland trails to explore on foot or by bike. A refined retreat with a cosy atmosphere, both couples and families will feel welcome as if at home at the Hauts de Loire.
Each of the thoughtfully furnished rooms has its own unique yet classic style featuring ornate period furnishings and many have a terrace with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. The larger family rooms and suites are found in the half-timbered carriage house on the estate and have timeless features such as exposed beams, carefully blending the historical charm of the region with modern touches.
The Domaine Hauts de Loire is a gastronomy lover’s dream. A timeless elegance exudes its gastronomic restaurant; silver candlesticks and fine china are softened by pastel linens and drapes. The 2 Michelin starred chef Remy Giraud serves the finest regional cuisine for lunch and dinner matched with exceptional local wines and has a reputation which draws visitors from all around. With an on-site vegetable garden and cookery school, you can follow in the chef’s footsteps and master the art of French cuisine.
Whether you relax in the magnificent grounds, discover the history of the surrounding chateaux or spend an afternoon sampling the wines of the region, this somewhere to slow your pace and savour the French ‘joie de vivre’.
