Pacific Yellowfin provides a truly unforgettable opportunity to experience the beauty and wilderness of the British Columbia coastline in a unique and historic wooden ship, resplendent in all the luxuries you could wish for.
Originally built as a coastal freighter for the US Army during the Second World War, the Pacific Yellowfin has a fascinating history that has brought her now to the beauty and serenity of Desolation Sound and beyond on the British Columbia coast.
Following spells as a spy ship and research vessel, this beautiful wooden boat was painstakingly refitted in 2003 and now offers the ultimate in luxury and comfort for guests wishing to explore this beautiful area.
Step on board and drink in the spotlessly clean decks, the shining varnish of the wood and the comfort and elegance of the main saloon. The ship is yours to enjoy for next 4 to 7 days and the 5 experienced and welcoming crew and there to ensure you enjoy every moment.
Although the Pacific Yellowfin will propose a cruise to all guests on board, nothing is set in stone and Captain Colin and his crew are happy to adapt to exactly what their guests would prefer. They can head to the best spots for Indigenous culture, where a local guide will lead you on an adventure in to untapped territory, or you can head out in one the ships three small craft, heading into tiny inlets where no one else had been to search out wildlife of all kinds.
Depending on the time of year, the Gulf Islands may be better for Orca watching, or perhaps heading to local island to explore farmers markets or vineyards. Desolation Sound offers spectacular scenery and local culture not to mention warm hot spring fed waters, perfect for breaking out the inflatable slide and diving into the crystal clear lagoons. Or perhaps paddle out in a kayak to a deserted beach for a gourmet picnic rustled up by the boat's amazing chef, Milan. Or hike to remote mountain lakes.
As you head into Fall, the boat heads north to the Great Bear Rainforest. This incredibly remote and spectacular area is home to the elusive Kermode or "Spirit" bears as well as grizzlies, eagles, porpoises and coastal wolves and makes for the ultimate adventure. Hike salmon streams and old growth forest, learn about the local Gitga'at culture and enjoy a traditional dinner with them. Head out for saltwater or fly fishing. Watch the salmon run, an amazing experience. This is where the boat comes into its own, taking guests to untouched parts of this magnificent wilderness area, far off the beaten track, without compromising on luxury.
On board the service and experience is fully 5 star. Intimate and personalized, the crew will do everything they can for their guests. Steer the boat, help with the navigation, learn about the pristine classic engine, relax in the hot tub, read about the flora and fauna, crank up the stereo, doze on the deck, be looked after, want for nothing. Each meal is a gourmet delight with Milan conjuring up magical gourmet extravaganzas in the galley. Enjoy the finest and freshest ingredients, paired with local wines, keeping your experience everything BC.
At night you slumber in proper beds with the finest linen and warm duvets. Proper flushing toilets, hot showers and even a bath are on board Fluffy towels, soft toys for the children and DVD players are all there for you whilst a day in the freshest air leaves you heading for the deepest slumber, rocked by the gentle movement of the boat.
