Located just 5-minutes from downtown Natchez and the Mississippi riverfront
For a glimpse into Louisiana’s colonial and antebellum past, the Mississippi Valley is home to a collection of former plantation estates complete with historic mansions and manicured gardens. A stay at the Monmouth Historic Inn is a chance to stay in one of these glorious mansions and learn more about the history of plantation life.
The property was first built in 1818 and has been beautifully restored to reflect the 19th century grandeur and hospitality of the Deep South. Set amid 26 acres of attractive gardens, you can expect a warm welcome, canopy-covered beds, dark woods, original art, and glamorous free-standing bathtubs.
There are a total of 30 rooms located in the main house or one of seven outbuildings, with views over the gardens and extensive grounds. While all are spacious, boasting period furnishings, antiques, and charming décor, we would recommend choosing a room in the main house for more character and original features. Many of the rooms feature working fireplaces and spa tubs. Amenities include flatscreen TV, Wi-Fi, Keurig coffee makers, L’Occitane bath products and hair dryer.
Entry level Deluxe Rooms are located throughout the grounds and gardens, while Antebellum Rooms are in the Main House. For extra space, book a Deluxe Suite, which includes a separate seating area. Some also include a spa bath, and all are housed in restored outbuildings on the site of the original structures that once stood there. For the ultimate in Southern Living, there are three Superior Suites, full of elegant décor and luxurious touches.
A complimentary full-Southern breakfast is included each morning and guests can book a table at the hotel’s Restaurant 1818, for an authentic antebellum dining experience feasting on gourmet Southern cuisine. For those looking for something less formal, drinks and snacks are served in the Quitman Lounge and in-room dining can be arranged.
The property has a fascinating history and there are two complimentary guided tours a day for guests. The gardens have self-guided paths so you can explore the plantation estate and onsite fishing is available with equipment provided. Guests can also enjoy the croquet court and access to an offsite fitness center.
