Anderson Inn
  • Amazing home from home service by the Anderson family

  • Stunning views from your private balcony overlooking Morro Bay

  • Tasteful rooms that offer charm and elegance

  • A good base to visit Hearst Castle

The charm of Anderson Inn is all about attention to detail, and the family are wonderfully friendly hosts who go out of their way to ensure each and every guest has a fantastic stay.

The rooms have been cleverly furnished, using the themes of sand, sea, and sky to create an atmosphere of good taste and refinement. Using lush fabrics, whitewashed wood ceilings and textured carpets, all rooms blend in with their natural setting. Offering private balconies overlooking the harbor, you immediately feel at ease with this little known corner of California, quite often seeing sea lions beneath you. The rooms have everything you may need, from iPod docks and WiFi to flatscreen TVs. In the Harbour Rooms, you have fireplaces and a spa tub too. The sunsets from your balcony are absolutely stunning.

The family also run the Galley Seafood Grill and Bar which is downstairs, offering the best seafood in town, and the place to head to in the evening. The hotel doesn’t offer breakfast, but Frankie and Lola’s down the road is an ideal place. The hotel is well positioned on the Embarcadero to explore the shops, restaurants and galleries located nearby.

The hotel can arrange in-room massages (or can do these off site too). Although this small boutique hotel doesn’t have a range of facilities such as pool or lobby that you might find in a larger hotel, it more than makes up for it with its unquestionable charm, wonderful service and elegance. We rather think small is beautiful, and the Anderson Inn is a perfect example.

Morro Bay itself is a working fishing village famous landmark Morro Rock was named by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo when he first charted this coast during his 16th Century voyage of discovery. Many guests enjoy taking kayaks out past the sea lions and sea otters and Scott Dunn can arrange Whale and Dolphin watching trips leaving from the Embarcadero. Morro Bay is also an ideal base from which to explore Hearst Castle, Big Sur and wine tasting in Paso Robles and the Edna Valley.

Top tip:

Hire a kayak from next door and paddle out to see the sea lions who hang out on the pontoon. Don't be put off by their aggressive sounding roaring, you can get as close as you want and they enjoy the company!
