The magnificent Plettenberg Hotel is a 19th century mansion originally belonging to the famous Thesen family, of logging fame in Knysna. The hotel was rebuilt in the early 1960s and again in the late 80s, to provide exclusive accommodation for the most discerning of travelers.
The Plettenberg comprises 37 superbly furnished ensuite rooms and suites, including two self-contained private houses, each with its own pool and sundeck. All have air-conditioning and most have balconies or patios, under-floor heating and beautiful sea views.
The Sand Restaurant at the Plettenberg serves global cuisine prepared with special emphasis on fresh seafood and local produce. For special occasions, treat yourself to a romantic dinner for two in the state-of-the-art wine cellar, surrounded by bottles and bottles of the best South African wines, all featured on the award-winning wine list.
