Hiking in the Atlas Mountains

You will be met by a private Berber mountain hiking guide, a specialist in the terrain and community of the area. Arriving in the co-ops, the guide will serve as a translator between you and the local women to explain their work and facilitate the communication. These co-operatives set up through independent and government funding allow the women of the region to support themselves and be sustainably independent, as well as providing the opportunity for literacy education.
You will then stop for a picnic lunch in the vastness of nature overlooking the Berber Village of Tizi Oussem, with stunning views over the steeply terraced agricultural steppe with mud brick villages interspersed across the deep valley. The picnic will include prepared cooked salads, a main dish and a dessert inspired by Berber cuisine yet modern and suitable for the experience. A hearty spread of local, seasonal and handmade fare.
