Generally speaking, the best time to visit Malaysian Borneo and Malaysia's east coast is between the months of March to September. During this time, rainfall is at its lowest and it is the best time to see orangutans in the wild.

Journey through the exciting contrasts of mainland Malaysia from the towering modern city of KL to Malaysia's culinary hot spot, Penang, before flying to the extraordinary wildlife-filled jungles of Borneo home to tropical rainforests, rare and endemic wildlife and spectacular island paradises. You will be taken on a magical trip to absorb the majestic highlights of this country.

  1. Days 1-3: Kuala Lumpur

    Once you have settled in at your hotel and enjoyed the open-air rooftop Sky Bar and pool it is time to explore the highlights of Kuala Lumpur.  Your private guide will show you the hidden side of the city from bustling Chow Kit Market to Little India. Interact with locals and experience the varied sites, smells and sounds of one of Asia's growing cities. Your guide will take you to see the beautiful Masjid Jamek mosque, one of the regions most reputable before exploring Chinatown where you will enjoy tea in a traditional tea house.

  2. Days 3-6: West Coast

    Fly to Penang, the foodie capital of Malaysia, known for its fruit farms and delicious culinary scene. Wander the markets sampling local food or independently explore the UNESCO World Heritage site of Georgetown. Or why not taker a cycling tour of Penang's countryside?  Allowing you to explore the hidden charms of rural life and take the opportunity to meet residents of the local villages. Meander along laneways and across lush paddy fields and rolling hills seeing a different side to this beautiful island. You will also enjoy a heritage culinary walking tour of bustling Georgetown where you will have the opportunity to sample some of the local delicacies from steamed buns with roast port to delectable dim sum.

  3. Days 6-7: Borneo

    This is where your Borneo adventure begins.  Enjoy one night to relax in the stylish and sustainable eco-lodge at MY Nature Resort in Sandakan, before continuing on your journey deeper into the lush Borneo Rainforest.

  4. Days 7-9: Borneo

    Only accessible by boat, along the beautiful Kinabatangan River, arrive at the rustic stilted lodge of Abai Jungle Lodge. The perfect base to enjoy trekking through the tropical rainforests and cruising along the mesmerising meandering rivers as they carve their way through the jungle, you will spot an amazing array of rare and endemic wildlife including orangutans, proboscis monkeys and pygmy elephants.

  5. Days 9-11: Borneo
