Best time to Visit

Average time to visit

Ol Seki will be closed in April and May.

The only time to avoid Kenya is during the long rainy season in April and May. November is considered the short rainy season, however, these are less predictable and are much lighter. The best time of year to visit the Maasai Mara is during the Great Wildebeest Migration which tends to pass through the Mara between mid July to late October.

This Classic itinerary allows guests to see the very best Kenya has to offer in a brief period of time. Spend two nights exploring Nairobi before heading onto the world famous Maasai Mara for some incredible wildlife viewing opportunities.

  1. Fly to Nairobi

  2. Days 1-3: Nairobi

Your vacation begins as you arrive into Nairobi where you will be met and transferred to the stunning Hemingways Nairobi. During your time here, you can lounge on the lawn by the cooling turquoise waters of the swimming pool, visit the nearby giraffe rehabilitation center where you can come face to face with a friendly giant, or perhaps visit the David Sheldrick center, famous for its elephant orphan rehabilitation program.

    Accommodation: Hemingways Nairobi (2 nights)

  3. Days 3-6: Maasai Mara

From Nairobi you will fly by light aircraft to Naboisho Conservancy on the edge of the Masai Mara. This private conservancy is limited to those staying within its parameters and therefore offers a more private safari experience as and varied safari activities such as safari walks and night drives which are not offered within the National Park. When you are not on exciting game drives during the day, we recommend exhilarating night drives in search of elusive nocturnal animals such as leopard or aardvark if very luck, or getting up close to nature on bush walks leaning about the flora and fauna. Experience the Maasai culture with a village visit or soar high above the savannah in a hot air balloon marvelling at the wildlife below.

    Accommodation: Ol Seki (3 nights)

  4. Fly Home Via Nairobi

  • Dinner at Hemingways Nairobi

With aspirations of being the first Michelin-starred venue in Nairobi, Hemingways is bringing new vigour to the dining scene in Kenya. The menus are contemporary European in style, characterized by a focus on retro-classics with an ultra-modern twist.

  • Game drives in the Maasai Mara

Exploring this iconic ecosystem in an adapted, open 4x4 safari vehicle with your professional safari guide is one of the best ways to get up close to the huge volume and wide diversity of wildlife in the Mara.

  • Giraffe Center - African Fund for Endangered Wildlife

If you have the time whilst in Nairobi, a visit to the Giraffe Center is a must. Located in the leafy suburb of Karen, the center is an educational and interactive experience. A unique opportunity to witness giraffe from very close quarters.

  • Maasai Mara Balloon Safari

Experience the magic of floating over the plains of the Maasai Mara in a Hot Air Balloon. Balloon safaris are a fantastic way to experience the vast beauty of the Mara and provide exceptional photo opportunities with spectacular lighting and scenery.

  • The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust

Founded in 1977 by Dame Daphne Sheldrick, The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi is one of the leading conservation organizations for wildlife and habitat protection in East Africa.
