Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.
To start planning your vacation to Trident Jamaica
Situated in the stunning Port Antonio, you will find Trident. With glorious ocean views, a private beach club, stylish restaurants and super cool villas, it provides a different Jamaica - in our opinion a really quite special one.
Trident Jamaica is the perfect place to unwind and relax. It has a picturesque location, just outside Port Antonio offering marvelous ocean views from all the villas and most of the communal areas. The hotel is very modern and every detail has been specifically designed to ooze comfort, luxury and elegance but also simplicity. The building itself has been refurbished so there still remain many original features which make it unique. With only 13 villas, there is a lovely intimate feel to the hotel and the staff is very personable.
The Trident oceanfront villas are modern with their fresh colors and splashes of 50s and 60s artwork. They are homely with separate bedroom, bathroom and living areas giving you lots of space to relax, not to mention the private terrace and plunge pool. The unique furnishings and airy colors create a harmonious environment to stay in.
There are two dining options at Trident. The Veranda, which overlooks the infinity pool, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner either outside or inside with a relaxed atmosphere. Mike’s Supper Club is livelier with its speakeasy environment complete with a live band. The Timebar is the place to head for a cocktail or two or your favorite aperitif.
The facilities at The Trident include a private beach with inviting clear waters and a beach bar, an infinity pool with fabulous ocean views, a spa which blends holistic techniques and philosophies from around the world to leave you feeling soothed, a state-of-the-art-gym and a children’s play area. If you find that you want to leave the hotel’s grounds, the concierge service will happily advise you on nearby watersports, cultural excursions and other activities to suit your tastes.
Guests staying at Trident can also use the facilities at GeeJam, the sister property in the rainforest just a short drive from the property.
Accommodation at The Trident Jamaica is in the form of villas. Each villa is slightly different in terms of layout and amenities but they all have sumptuous ocean views, luxurious amenities, ample space, WiFi, flat screen TVs and a lovely airy and modern feel to them. Children are welcome to come and stay at The Trident, Jamaica. There is an unsupervised play area for them to enjoy near the beach and in the hotel grounds.
Trident Hotel boasts two wonderful restaurants and a bar. The Veranda gives you the option to dine internally or externally for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The restaurant overlooks the infinity pool and out towards the ocean providing an enjoyable backdrop whilst you tuck into some delicious dishes.
Mike’s Supper Club has a livelier atmosphere as it has taken on a cabaret atmosphere to capture the essence of the Calypso Bop era. This means some low lighting, a live band playing jazz, bop and world music and a menu inspired by Japanese-Jamaican cuisine.
The Timebar is a great place to head to before dinner for an aperitif – you could sample a cocktail or opt for your favorite tipple accompanied by a nibble or two.
The Explorer’s Lounge is a glamorised communal living area. With original displays of 50s and 60s artwork, comfortable sofas, unique artifacts and a library it is an ideal snug to relax in or indeed hold a private party or dinner.
The Trident Spa is run by highly qualified therapists who use a range of treatments to suit your needs. The main focus is on holistic treatments inspired by global philosophies merged with Caribbean techniques. The spa itself is very sophisticated in style, and you feel an immediate escapism as soon as you step into your robe and slippers.
The man-made beach at the Trident is a relaxing way to spend your day, complete with sun loungers, a beach bar and crystal clear waters, you will be in heaven. The pool is also an inviting setting with its fabulous ocean views and comfortable sun beds. There is an on-site gym near to the spa if you fancy an invigorating work out. The spa is the perfect place to head to indulge in a bit of pampering and relax the body and mind.
Further afield, there are several places to explore. Head to the Frenchman’s cove to splash about in the water, embark on some river rafting or go and check out the local waterfalls. Head to the local towns to sample some of the famous jerk chicken and other colorful dishes. The hotel staff will happily advise you on which activities and events are current during your stay.

Uber chic, Trident is like no other hotel in Jamaica. White, contemporary and very slick in design. Spacious villas perfect for families with a two bedroom option but the one bedroom villas have a separate sitting room so children can sleep there. Each villa has a pool overlooking the ocean but make note that in front of the villas it is rocky and then the beach is at the end of the resort, a small lagoon with calm waters - perfect base to go snorkeling from, stand up paddle boarding etc. No kids club here but there is a climbing frame for children to enjoy. A small understated spa offering treatments and then two restaurants. Mike's Supper Club has more of a formal feel in the evening with a cabaret vibe; live music playing once a week. A perfect base to explore the stunning local beaches near Port Antonio.

The vibe at Trident is similar to a Miami South Beach one. Uber cool aspects of every part of the hotel. I was wary pre visiting of the contemporary style, usually favouring more of an Eco chic set up, but the colors of the ocean and the lush green surroundings of Portland really bring life and vibrancy into the hotel, complementing the crispness of the decor.
For me, the villas are the highlight here. So spacious. If you compare this to what you get for your money elsewhere in the Caribbean this is fantastic. The living space is larger than the bedroom (which is by no means small) and is a place to really relax and spend time with your family/ partner watching a movie on the latest Apple TV system.
The private deck with jacuzzi/plunge pool has the most wonderful views out to sea and the waves here crash right up over the rock formations as you look down from the villa garden. Really dramatic.
The beach club here is a bonus, not a feature though as it's man made but wonderful for water based activities. My daughter mastered snorkeling and paddle boarding here for the first time with a really patient and kind watersports instructor called 'little'.
The infinity pool is stunning and the bar for an evening pre dinner cocktail is fun. This is a real gem of a hotel that is just making it's name in the luxury market and being managed by the Geejam collection means there is a dining exchange at the nearby Geejam hotel. Also due to the links the managing company have with the music world this feels like a real celeb hangout. Balance the super cool style of Trident with the untouched location of Port Antonio and I think that this is definitely a real find. The activities in this parish are never end job with rafting, trekking, visiting different beaches and a truly authentic Jamaican experience away from the rows of chain hotels to be found in other parts of the island or on similar Caribbean islands.
Welcome to the real Jamaica!

The new Trident which opened in March this year, is an all Villa accommodation and is the sister hotel to Gee Jam which is a few miles down the road. It now makes a perfect two center to explore the stunning area of Port Antonio, which offers lots of excursions, including the Rio Grande, which is something not to be missed!.
You can use the facilities at both hotels.
The Trident is set on the rugged coast line, its cotemporary style compliments nature.
Rooms 1 and 2 are the only villas that offer an infinity pool, although the remained of the thirteen large retro style villas have pools apart from one. Here was my first experience of an outside bath.
You are certainly greeted with a very warm Jamaican smile. The moment you enter you are presented with a breathtaking view of the sea - Its just stunning.
The communal areas are really lovely as well, everywhere is designed for comfort. Its perfect to unwind and relax. There is even a mini cinema which can be booked for private hire.
Discover the unknown beaches of Portland
The beaches of Portland are the best on the island. Enjoy a day with your private driver exploring endless natural beaches without the crowds at the local Winnifred beach perfect for snorkeling and round the day off with a sundowner at Frenchman's Cove.
Rafting on the Rio Grande
Enjoy rafting the peaceful River Rio Grande surrounded by the mountains of Portland and pass by bamboo and banana groves. Complete the day with a riverside cook out with a local lady who will keep you entertained with Jamaican folktales.
Reach Falls and Boston Jerk Center
Reach Falls is a gem of a waterfall, less dramatic but much less crowded than the mighty Dunns River Falls. This is a place to kick back and enjoy the natural setting, followed by a visit to the parish jerk center.
Touted as the Greatest Reggae Show on Earth, Reggae Sumfest runs from 13th to 19th July and features world renowned reggae artists in the heart of Montego Bay.
