Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.

Description
The Caves is an intimate and fun boutique hotel set on the limestone cliffs of Negril, close to the seven mile long beachfront and provides the perfect hideaway from which to explore this intriguing Caribbean island.
The Caves is a small boutique hotel set on the cliffs of Negril on a rocky point overlooking the Caribbean. The cliff walls feature a series of cleverly built sun decks and diving platforms to enjoy the cool emerald sea. You will also find some excellent snorkeling in amongst the caves.
There are 12 hand crafted, stylish cottages with funky interiors, hand-carved furniture and batik fabrics, each with a sea view. The hotel also features a fabulous fully air conditioned four-bedroom/five bathroom deluxe villa with private pool, WiFi and satellite TV.
Spicy Jamaican cuisine is served in the open-air gazebo. There are also two grottoes in the cliffs for private dining, romantically lit with hundreds of candles. The hotel also has two bars, a saltwater swimming pool and a hot tub built into its own room in the cliffs with a view out to the sea. There are also a variety of treatments available at the Aveda Mini-Spa including their signature Caves Massage, inside a cave with candles and the soothing sound of the ocean aside.
For the more active, the hotel will be happy to organize hiking through the stunning mountainous landscape, tours to go scuba diving, deep sea fishing, shopping, climbing waterfalls, and wandering through Botanic Gardens all within a 2-hour drive. Jamaica is home to over 200 species of birds and some fantastic bird watching opportunities.

Reviews

Fantastic setting but certainly not for those who have a fear of heights! All the rooms are individually designed with a huge sense of character. Guests stay on an all inclusive basis; lunch is fairly relaxed with just a couple of dishes to choose from and then in the evening make sure you have a private dinner in one of the caves.

Caves is a little hidden treasure perched on a cliff top on the West End of Negril. You dont get the beach on this side of Negril but what you do get are phenomenal sea views without all the tourists. When I arrived here I literally had to pinch myself as it reminded me so much of the whitewashed boutique hotels you find dotted along the coast in Mykonos overlooking the Aegean Sea, but here the water is so much bluer. Best of all you are in Jamaica! This is a real couples sanctuary. Outside, white flowing drapes, sunny terraces with seating areas connected by winding cliff paths and cosy nooks with large beds for lounging in the sun. Inside, the 12 brightly colored thatch-roofed cottages are louvered windows, handcrafted wicker and wood furnishings and local artwork. The dining here is relaxed and low-key and lunch is usually a choice of one or two dishes freshly prepared in the kitchens that morning. At night, the Caves come alive and I would highly recommend reserving a private candlelight dinner in one of the two private caves where you can also enjoy exclusive access to the rum and cigar bar. There is also a hot tub built into one of the caves, a perfect place to spend an afternoon with a bottle of champagne to spice things up. Outside there is a selection of restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance and by night you can enjoy one of the reggae nightspots such as Alfred's, Bourbon Beach or Roots Bamboo where top Jamaican artists perform regularly with live bands.
