La Foresteria Planeta enjoys a hilltop location just a 10 minute drive from the small town of Menfi. Surrounded by rolling vineyards and olive groves, and just a short distance from the coast, this is the perfect destination for guests wishing to get back to nature and escape the crowds.
The wine estate here is just one of a group of Planeta estates scattered around the island, and La Foresteria Hotel has been added to this particular estate to offer guests the opportunity to stay longer and fully immerse themselves in a unique vineyard experience.
Each of the hotel’s 14 rooms are unique in their furnishings, but share a simple, warm Mediterranean style, and beautiful views. Many also enjoy a small outdoor private terrace area. The rooms take their names from the wide selection of herbs which can be both seen and smelt from the terrace areas, and which are used to enrich the dishes created in the kitchen.
The one restaurant is small and intimate, with an open dining terrace from which the stunning views can be enjoyed. The kitchen is open, viewed through a large glass window, so you can watch the chefs at work as they produce delicious Sicilian dishes made with fresh local produce. The restaurant’s menu has been designed to introduce guests to the products of the surrounding countryside and sea, and stems from traditional family recipes.
With one swimming pool and terrace area, a small spa and fitness room, and a spacious and comfortable lounge area with large windows overlooking the valley, there really is no need to leave the hotel if it is peace and relaxation which you are seeking. For the more active and adventurous, bikes can be borrowed from the hotel, free of charge, and used to explore the trails which run through the surrounding countryside and down to the beach. There are also some beautiful walks from the property, and the opportunity to learn more about the workings of the vineyard with wine tour and tasting experiences on offer.
