Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.
To start planning your vacation to Laluna
Bohemian and off the beaten track, Laluna is a small, hip hotel hidden away in a beautiful corner of Grenada. With an emphasis on individuality, this beachfront Caribbean hideaway is the ideal place for couples who want to relax and enjoy some seclusion.
Laluna is small, stylish hotel set on a gorgeous wild beach in the south west corner of Grenada. Laluna is a change from your usual Caribbean resorts, with a distinct Asian influence. Everything about this tropical retreat of individual cottages echoes bohemian and unobtrusive style.
The hotel’s simply furnished 16 cottages are a fusion of Asian elements with West Indian detail, each with its own plunge pool and veranda. Cottages are equipped with beautiful four-poster Balinese king size beds with Italian linen sheets and open air bathrooms. Amenities include air conditioning in the bedrooms, ceiling fan in room, flat screen satellite TV, iPod docking stations, DVD player (only in select rooms), wireless internet connection, minibar with complimentary tea and coffee station and walk-in closet with electronic safe.
The main clubhouse, featuring a high-peaked, authentically thatched roof, consists of various low-lying stone and wooden structures and Indonesian style sofas. Open and airy, it overlooks the resort’s freshwater pool and private beach. There is a laid back restaurant serving authentic Italian cuisine and boasting a decent wine cellar.
Laluna also has a fabulous Wellness Center, offering health retreats and spa services. It is known as The Sanctuary and comprises of an organic garden, an Asian spa and yoga pavilion. Activities that can be arranged by the resort include snorkeling, sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking, cycling, fishing, tennis, golf, scuba diving, hiking and island tours.
Laluna’s secluded suites feature open-air showers, private plunge pools and rustic accommodations to set the scene for a romantic Grenada getaway. Some suites are located in various points on the hillside, which will give dramatic views over the Caribbean Sea. One of the cottages is located right on the beach, so you can step straight out onto the sand. All have a veranda with daybed, four-poster Balinese king size beds with Italian linen sheets, air conditioning and ceiling fan, flat screen satellite TV, iPod docking stations, direct dial telephones and wireless internet connection, minibar with complimentary tea and coffee station, walk-in closet with electronic safe and an open air bathroom with hair dryer, bathrobes and Italian bath products.
A mere 60 steps from the beach and main house, the semi-detached cottage suites are tucked away on the upper hill of the property, offering the most dramatic view of the Caribbean Sea.
The free-standing deluxe cottages provide a private, intimate experience. Located on the hillside above the stunning Caribbean Sea, only 30 steps separate the deluxe cottages from the beautiful beach.
|Beach Cottage Deluxe||
Laluna's most private offering, the free-standing Deluxe Beach Cottage is located directly on the beach. Only 40 feet from the water's edge, the intimate beachfront cottage opens onto a lawn which leads to within just a few steps of the beach.

The two bedroom cottages are formed of two Cottage Suites that are side by side with a shared veranda. They are located on the hillside and hence enjoy the most dramatic view of the Caribbean Sea.

I slightly fell in love with Laluna, something a little different and not your standard Caribbean hotel. The beach that Laluna sits on is a beautiful stretch of bay and as Laluna is the only hotel, it is very quiet with just the few locals who can be bothered to try and trek down to the beach. I snorkelled here, straight from the beach and it was fabulous. The sunsets from the bar here with a rum punch in hand are also pretty special. The Italian influences on the restaurant are very apparent and the menu is extensive and delicious. The only thing I would say is that the rooms are quite dark and the open bathrooms may not be enjoyed by all. I'd recommend this property to couples who are looking for something perhaps a little reminiscent of their traveling days but with the luxury touches of a 5 star property.

Situated in a small bay just off Grand Anse Beach, Laluna offers a relaxing retreat style resort. It is Grenada's secret hideaway. The rooms are basic with a Balinese and rustic feel and each has its own individual character. The new villa is a stunning modern space with fantastic views overlooking Grenada.

A very private resort, more rustic than luxurious but a wonderful hideaway for adults. The hotel has a well known Italian restaurant, a newly opened gym, a Balinese spa and a yoga pavilion to enjoy. All the rooms have their own plunge pools, one room on the beach and the rest are scattered higher up the hill. Despite the stairs, it does mean you can enjoy some beautiful views!

Laluna is a lovely little hideaway. More rustic than luxurious, but it's remote location tucked at the end of a small lane offers wonderful privacy. The hotel is on a hillside, so although you will need to be reasonably fit to negotiate the steps to get up to the rooms, you will be rewarded with an amazing view from your balcony and plunge pool. The rooms are cottage style, and my favorite were the Deluxe Cottages, which are mid-way up the hill, offering detached accommodation, each with it's own plunge pool (as have all the rooms). A fabulous beach front cottage is also available. I love that you can just tumble out of bed, straight onto the beach, but you do sacrifice the privacy for that benefit.

You would never find Laluna if you didn't know where it was. Set tucked well away down an unfinished road, a 5 minute bump ride brings you to this little oasis of calm and a stunning white sand beach. Even though no beaches on Grenada are private, it's difficult to reach this beach unless you're at the hotel or on a boat. I watched locals fishing from the rocks in the distance but the beach I had to myself.
The accommodation at Laluna is best described as rustic. Rather dark on the inside, each cottage has a balcony or terrace with wonderful sea views and a comfy sofa. The higher you climb up the hill, the better the view. There are a lot of steps here so the hotel is best for those who don't mind a bit of climbing. There is one beachfront suite with a great little hammock, tucked away but not that private as other guests can walk by along the beach, however, you are right on the beach and that's often worth the loss of privacy.
The bar and restaurant are on the beach, making the most of the sea breezes and sunset views. The food here is superb, it's a popular choice with locals as well as guests. The open sided lounge is great for whiling away the post dinner hours and rustling up a cocktail or two.
Laluna is popular with those that like yoga and there is a lovely yoga pavilion which is regularly utilized by fans of this meditative activity. The spa beyond is right on the edge of the rock and offers a delectable selection of therapies.
All in all, what Laluna lacks in luxuries it makes up for with a very private experience and a gorgeous beach. Many love this mellow spot and come here to unwind, barefoot luxury is the order of the day.
