Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.

The rooms and bathrooms at Calabash have recently undergone refurbishment and look really fresh and current. The ambience here is relaxed yet elegant and it feels very much like a little club rather than a hotel. I'd recommend this for couples who are looking for a peaceful spot in Grenada with excellent dining opportunities. I loved the Gary Rhodes restaurant, one of the prettiest interior designs I've seen in a while!

Calabash is a lovely boutique resort. The restaurant serves excellent food and has great entertainment in the evenings. The Beach House is a newer addition and is open for lunch serving tapas and cocktails.

A firm favorite of mine in Grenada. Family run hotel and they are very much the face of the hotel and what really makes it Calabash! The grounds of Calabash are beautiful with manicured gardens. The rooms are all set out in a horse shoe shape.
What makes it such a wonderful hotel is the personalized service. Each evening you are asked to choose what time and what you would like for your breakfast from the extensive menu and the fairies appear in the morning to set up your table and breakfast. Likewise when it comes to sundowners; you can request what you would like and at 6pm they are delivered to your room with canaps. If guests are staying on an all inclusive basis, this is all included.
Lovely beach which shaded spots under the trees. Dining at the Rhodes restaurant offers some of the best food! You must try the trio of tuna for the starter!

I had a really lovely stay at Calabash. The rooms are all located in a horseshoe around beautiful gardens with a large open lawn in the middle. I loved the Westside suites which are the most recently refurbished of the rooms, but what I really loved was the friendly atmosphere, and delicious food! I dined on my first evening at the Rhodes restaurant, and the second day at their most recent addition, Bash, by Mark B. Special mention must go to the delicious fish burrito - the chef made me a special smaller portion so that I could try a selection of other dishes too!

To have your breakfast on your terrace or balcony over looking the lovely gardens and beach each morning, is a really nice touch. The staff are really friendly in this small boutique hotel that is family run.

Arriving at Calabash for me was a bit like stepping into an oasis of calm and tranquillity. The big smiles on the receptionists face make you feel really welcome and immediately very much at home. Calabash, being British owned and run, is like a little corner of old England, without the English weather. The gardens are lovely and colorful and the rooms are all nestled away with sea glimpses.
I was lucky enough to spend a night in one of the lovely Pool Suites. They benefit from a small lounge and separate bedroom, with the most wonderful four poster bed. The private pool is tucked away at the back of the suite and completely private. More of a plunge pool than a swimming pool its the prefect place to cool down and refresh. There's also a really lovely big main pool which is perfect for a proper swim.
The beach was just a short stroll away and really pretty, with a fair few boats anchored close by and room to stroll along. There's a great little lunch restaurant there too which is good for whiling away the hours when its a bit too hot to sit out.
Although I didn't try it, there is an on site dive center which has an excellent reputation. Apparently there are a number of good wreck dives nearby.
I had dinner at Rhodes Restaurant and the food was lovely. The menu isn't huge but that ensured I wasn't too spoiled for choice. It's good to have at least one meal there during your stay, other restaurants are also available within a 10 minute taxi ride if you want to eat out.
Calabash left the best till last. The next morning, breakfast was served to my requirements on my terrace. This is done for all the guests and is a lovely touch as there's no dressing for breakfast, simply roll out of bed and its all there for you. Totally decadent.
