Spread across 110-acres of ancient forest, Les Sources de Cheverny is a peaceful haven comprising the 18th century Château de Breuil, delightful lawns and gardens, stylish outdoor pool, traditional stone farmhouses, rustic cabins, Claudalie Spa, and tranquil lake. In the heart of the Loire Valley, this private hamlet offers the chance to unwind and soak up the area’s natural beauty, along with enjoying the superb food and wine. For exploring, the hotel has guest bicycles and a boot room covering all shoe sizes, while some of the Loire’s most famous châteaux, including Cheverny, Chambord and Chenonceau are all within easy striking distance.
The accommodation is dotted throughout the estate, with rooms in old farm buildings, wooden cabins, and the original Château de Breuil. The décor achieves a glorious balance of bygone glory, period charm and homely comfort. Soft greens, flea market finds, antique furnishings, and colorful rugs conspire to create both unpretentious and stylish accommodation in which guests can properly relax and unwind. The professional and friendly staff are on hand to ensure you get the most from your stay, with tips and advice should you need them.
Full of Bohemian spirit, each of the 49 rooms and suites have been individually designed to reflect the region’s heritage and history. All have generous bathrooms with two sinks, bathtub and shower, climate control, Wi-Fi, flatscreen TV with international channels, minibar, safe and hairdryer. Superior and Prestige Rooms can be booked in either the Château or one of the stone farmhouses close to the forest, lake, orchard, and vineyards.
For a separate living room, the Junior Suites, and the Suites, which are spread across the Château, farmhouses, and wooden Scandi-inspired cabins, are ideal for families and larger groups. The standout accommodation is the Perched Baron. This wooden-built suite stands on stilts overlooking the lake with panoramic views of the estate, tasteful interiors, and an outdoor Scandinavian bathtub for a one-of-a-kind bathing experience.
In a region known for its superb gastronomy, the onsite restaurants will not disappoint. With a Michelin star, Le Favori, overseen by chef, Frédéric Calmels serves exquisite regional cuisine created from the produce of the Loire Valley. Similarly, L’Auberge uses seasonal, fresh, and local ingredients and has a wonderful open-plan kitchen, a delightful rustic vibe with mismatched tableware and an outdoor terrace. Every Saturday, guests can enjoy complimentary cakes, cookies, madeleines, and seasonal fruits on its attractive terrace.
Surrounded by some of the most beautiful vineyards in France, wine tastings are also held in L’Auberge and the estate’s vineyards cultivate the Romorantin grape variety, which produces a crisp and delicate organic white wine, La Grand’Vigne Romorantin. The hotel can also arrange exclusive visits to the region’s top wine producers.
To use the Claudalie Spa guests need to book a treatment or massage, which gives access to the thermal bathing pool, outdoor hot tub and hammam. The estate also has an outdoor heated pool and hot tub for the enjoyment of all guests, guided forest running, bike rides and muscle awakening classes. Yoga, Pilates, personal training, horse riding, hot air ballooning, beekeeping workshops and tennis coaching are also available for an additional charge. Guests can also rent electric bikes daily. For golfers, there is a course at Château de Cheverny, which is a 10-minute cycle away.
