Nukubati Island is a private island in the South Pacific nation of Fiji. Nukubati is situated inside the Great Sea Reef, off the North Coast of Vanua Levu.
Nukubati is situated just one kilometer off the north coast of Vanua Levu amid crystalline coral reefs in Fiji’s beautiful, remote and unspoiled ‘north.’ This tiny private island retreat is a real hidden gem, with an authentic Fijian atmosphere.
Located on the Great Sea Reef, the third largest barrier reef in the world

More traditional in style and completely remote, the only sound that will wake you up in the morning are the birds
Community minded and closely linked with the local villages, visit a church or a school for a true Fijian experience
With just seven bures accommodating a maximum of 14 people at any one time, peace and solitude are guaranteed at Nukubati. Each of the seven bures have been given a fresh new look while retaining their Fijian charm and each bure and suite has a private enclosed patio to the rear. Whichever you choose, you can be assured that the beach and water’s edge are just steps away and the views are simply breathtaking. The island can also be booked exclusively, providing the ideal escape for an extended family or group of friends traveling together.
Nukubati is renowned for its traditional South Pacific cuisine, comprising freshly caught seafood, organic vegetables from the vegetable garden and fresh tropical fruits. For Nukubati’s owner, Jenny, who grew up close to the island, protecting the environment is of prime importance. The island produces most of its own electricity, and has the largest solar plant in the South Pacific. Fresh filtered rainwater is used, and the bures have been designed without the need for air-conditioning (ceiling fans and louvred walls allow in the cooling sea breezes).
It is undoubtedly the warmth of the staff (who come from the nearby villages), which draws visitors back to Nukubati time and time again. The special touches such as a private picnic on a sandbar in the lagoon, or the Champagne and canapés thoughtfully delivered to your verandah at sunset make Nukubati a truly magical place.
While the emphasis here is on relaxation, there is still lots to see and do should you feel the need to be active. Snorkeling, sailing, game-fishing and tennis are available, and the Great Sea Reef (the world’s third largest barrier reef) offers some of the best SCUBA-diving in Fiji. We also highly recommend taking time to explore the nearby island of Vanua Levu, Fiji’s second largest island and private 4WD tours can easily be arranged (payable locally). In addition, visits to the nearby pearl farm, villages, schools and churches can also be arranged.
