Very accessible just a 1-hour drive from Salvador
Set on a 12 km stretch of Bahia's Coconut Coast, a coastline of deserted beaches, coconut groves and natural sea pools
All rooms and suites have sea-facing balconies
Tivoli Ecoresort Praia do Forte is set amongst 25,000 m2 of gardens and coconut groves, with miles of beaches, coconut forests, multicolored reefs, natural salt water pools, rivers, waterfalls, lagoons and relics from colonial Brazil. The hotel is a short distance from the center of picturesque Praia do Forte fishing village, which is home to the fascinating Tamar Project set up 20 years ago to save the endangered sea turtle.
250 air-conditioned rooms are spaciously located in two-storey bungalows, each with their own veranda and hammocks overlooking either the tropical gardens or the beautiful beach dotted with palm trees. The hotel is constructed in a style which combines pre-Baroque Jesuit architecture with Polynesian architecture. There are three swimming pools, two floodlit tennis courts, three bars, a restaurant serving local and international cuisine and a nautical center with facilities for windsurfing, kayaking and diving. The resort also offers superb spa facilities, including a selection of different therapies and Thalassotherapy. But if you're looking for something more cultural, trips to the ruins of the Garcia D'Avila castle are available, one of the oldest Portuguese constructions in the country.
When to visit
Be sure, if you are staying June to November, to keep a look out on the horizon, as humpback whales come to these waters to calve.
