OIÁ Casa Lençóis occupies a privileged position on the edge of Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, one of Brazil's most extraordinary and least-visited landscapes. Vast white sand dunes curve around freshwater lagoons that fill during the rainy season, creating a setting of genuine, almost surreal beauty. The property sits on 52,000 square meters of land from a former farm, where native vegetation has been carefully preserved and the surrounding biome left largely intact.
The guesthouse accommodates just 22 guests across eight suites: two rooms in the main house and three bungalows, each containing two suites. The upper-floor main house suite looks directly over the Park, where dune ridges and their reflective lagoons stretch to the horizon. The lower-floor suite offers easier access to the property's shared spaces while maintaining complete privacy. The bungalows sit a short walk from the main house, set within the landscape itself, each room oriented towards the dunes.
Design runs through every detail. The aesthetic brings together the rustic and the refined, with art curation selected to reflect the cultural richness of Northeastern Brazil. Pieces by leading names in contemporary design sit alongside local craft, creating a space that rewards careful attention.
The kitchen takes the same considered approach: dishes built on fresh seasonal produce and regional ingredients, prepared using fine dining techniques but without pretension. Three meals a day are included, along with picnics on tours, trail snacks and a constant supply of farm cake, tea and coffee. Included experiences, led by dedicated local guides, take guests through the Park by 4x4, kayak and on foot, to sunset viewpoints on the dunes, local communities and the seafood village of Travosa.
