The 23 thatch-roofed and stucco cottages reflect the traditional architecture of the region. Each cottage has beautiful Mexican tiled floors, large mahogany beds, original artwork and private bathrooms with hot showers. The two modern Ix Chel villas offer a truly luxurious experience, with Jacuzzis, al fresco showers, plunge pools and personal butler service, as well as hi-spec accommodation.Each has two bedrooms making them perfect for families or two couples traveling together.
There is a lovely restaurant serving a combination of modern and traditional cooking techniques with fresh local produce, much of which is sourced from the lodge's organic Mayan farm. The hilltop spa offers a perfect way to relax and unwind at the end of a day of discovery and exploration. There is also a large infinity swimming pool which is an inviting way to cool off.
The lodge has its very own stable of well-trained horses, allowing you to explore the heart of the reserve on horseback. One can also explore the natural wonders of the remarkable Rio Frio Caves or the Rio On pools, then meander down the Macal River in an authentic dugout canoe and catch a glimpse of the abundant river wildlife.
When to visit
To experience life on a tropical river, it's fun to take a canoe along the Macal River to San Ignacio, where staff will meet you and drive you back.
