Enquire NowA light aircraft drops you into Sri Lanka's tea country and the adventure starts on foot. Sixteen kilometres of the Pekoe Trail wind through working plantations, past waterfalls and cloud forest, the sense of achievement building with every step. Kayak across the still waters of Castlereagh Lake, then grab a helmet and fly downhill on mountain bike trails that carve through the highland estates. At Yala, game drives plunge you into leopard territory alongside elephants, sloth bears, and crocodiles, before astronomers set up telescopes under some of the clearest night skies on the island.
Weligama's rolling surf breaks are where you grab a board and learn. Warm water, sandy bottom, and that rush when you finally stand up. From here, the south coast packs in culture and competition at speed: race through rice paddies and cinnamon plantations by bicycle, pick up a bat and take on locals in a cricket match inside Galle Fort's walls, and sprint through a treasure hunt that turns the fort's cobbled streets into a full-speed race.
Then the pace shifts, and it's just as good. A Buddhist monk shares what daily monastic life actually looks like, no filter and no script. A local family in Thalpe opens their kitchen, their recipes, and their table. And at dawn, Sail Lanka takes you out to scan the Indian Ocean for blue whales surfacing off the coast, nothing between you and the largest animals on earth. The final evening delivers a cliff-edge dinner at Cape Weligama, the ocean below, the sun dropping, and eleven days of memories still buzzing around the table.
