The tour begins at 09:00 with a departure from Topas Ecolodge, followed by a gentle 30-minute walk downhill to Lao Chai Village, home to the Black H’Mong hill tribe community.
Upon arrival, time is spent with local artisans for an introduction to traditional textile-making. The workshop focuses on hemp preparation, batik design and natural indigo dyeing. While the full 41-step production process is not completed, key stages are demonstrated and explained, with particular emphasis on the meaning behind important H’Mong folk art symbols and traditional patterns.
A traditional H’Mong lunch is served in the village, offering further insight into local daily life and customs.
In the early afternoon, an easy walk of approximately 1-hour leads from Lao Chai, passing terraced fields and local homes along the way. At Ta Van, the vehicle meets the group for the transfer back to Topas Ecolodge, arriving in the afternoon.
