Topas Ecolodge

A stay at Topas Ecolodge isn't just a standard hotel stay, it's an experience. You are surrounded by the most amazing views of the mountains, the paddy fields and local villages; you do feel a bit like you're on top of the world! Two or three nights here would be the perfect amount of time to enjoy some of the activities the area has to offer and just to relax amongst these serene surroundings. It is certainly an escape from the nearby busy town of Sapa.

All the bungalows have slightly different aspects as they are all angled differently. However, the interiors are very similar, with a rustic but charming design which has both Vietnamese and Nordic influences. The bungalows have lovely balconies from which you can enjoy the views, mosquito net covered beds and spacious bathrooms. The design is very simple, in keeping with the eco ethos of the lodge, but very comfortable. Waking up to those mountain views in the morning is magical.

Activities in the area are mostly focused on trekking and visiting local villages to learn about culture and different ethnic tribes. Treks can vary from easy to challenging, or if you don't want to walk you can perhaps visit places by motorcycle or bicycle! Do be aware though of touts as they can sometimes be very pushy to get you to buy their products.

There is a restaurant at the lodge where you are most likely to dine as the restaurants of Sapa are quite a drive away. The food is very good and you tend to order earlier in the day so they know what you want in advance. Service is very good too, mostly local staff who were very eager and keen to be helpful which was a definite plus.

The property boasts a fabulous infinity pool, treating guests to one of the best panoramic views in Asia. The hotel uses an eco-friendly heating system to warm the pool water on cool days, and there is a poolside bar and sunloungers. For those seeking to unwind even further, there is a peaceful spa which offers locally inspired treatments.
