A former holiday home that has been sympathetically expanded over the decades, The Danai offers upmarket accommodation, a private sandy beach, superb dining options, spa and fitness centre, and fabulous amenities for families with children. Perched on the Sithonia bluffs of the Halkidiki Peninsula in northern Greece, the property benefits from stunning Aegean views and is a great choice for a relaxed beach holiday. As a member of the exclusive Leading Hotels of the World group, expect fabulous service, cuisine and facilities.

Guests can choose from 56 suites and villas, all individually and stylishly furnished to provide a comfortable and relaxing stay. Suites sleep between 2 and 5 guests with choice of separate living room, private pool and up to two bedrooms. Standard amenities include furnished balcony or terrace, climate control, Wi-Fi, Smart TV, Nespresso machine, safe, and marble bathroom with Acqua di Parma bathing products, robes, slippers and hairdryer. For more space, the villas include sumptuous living rooms and infinity pools and sleep between 5 and 9 guests.

Along with 24-hour room service, there are three open-air restaurants to enjoy. Enjoy Mediterranean fine dining at Andromeda and gastronomic excellence at the award-winning Squirrel. For more relaxed Greek cuisine, head to the beachside Anthios Restaurant, while the Philosophy Bar serves a wide range of refreshments from cocktails to coffee, as well as daytime snacks. Breakfast is a slow and relaxed affair on the terrace with bread and pastries supplied by the onsite Bakery House. The Danai is also host to one of the world’s greatest wine collections. Head to Noble House for a tour and guided tasting of the 1,700 bottles of fine wines delivered by award-winning sommeliers. Masterclasses and wine-pairing are also on offer.

A highlight of the property is the long stretch of sandy private beach, lined with cabanas, daybeds, and loungers. The Beach Team is on hand for any refreshments required and there’s a water sports station offering non-motorised activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and snorkelling, as well as scuba diving, water skiing, donuts and sea bobs. Back at the resort, the Spa, Wellness and Fitness space offers a range of treatments, and includes a sauna, hammam, experience showers, well-equipped gym, and relaxation area.

For families, there is a wonderful Kid’s Club with garden, playground and club house offering a fun and educational programme of activities for those aged 4-12 years. Babysitting service and swimming lessons are also available. While for those wishing to explore further afield, the Danai has a luxury motor yacht, The Bird, which can be chartered for trips taking in hidden bays, the ancient monk republic of the UNESCO-listed Mount Athos and the Sporades “Mamma Mia’ Islands.
