Hvar’s wine tradition has been documented as early as Greek times with an agricultural colony known today as the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stari Grad Plain, which has continued uninterruptedly since their arrival 2500 years ago! By now, winemaking has almost been perfected on the island; hence it is almost unthinkable to leave Hvar without a face-to-face encounter with some vintners and their fine product. The island's winemakers are undergoing something of a renaissance, and nowhere more so than in the town of Jelsa, where two of Croatia's outstanding winemakers will welcome you with their contrasting styles. After a busy afternoon of wine appreciation, enjoy a traditional dinner in a local tavern before returning to your hotel.
