For smaller groups and families looking for upscale accommodation, Sopris House is ideal. Sister property to Eleven’s flagship lodge, Scarp Ridge, Sopris House was originally built in 1882, and the building was used as a saloon before being beautifully transformed into a stylish and comfortable four-bedroom chalet-style home. The property retains its original tin roof and echoes of the past, with the huge buffalo head that adorns the dining room, along with the atmospheric private saloon bar with pool table and juke box. There’s a charming home-from-home vibe with stone-clad fireplace, cosy sofas, media room, Wi-Fi, and private courtyard. Along with the Sopris Saloon Bar, the courtyard is a great place to relax and features an outdoor copper hot tub, cold plunge pool, sauna and firepit.
Sopris House is for the exclusive use of up to 10 guests. There are four ensuite bedrooms, all with individual features that include roll top bathtub, library and reading nook, while the bunk room is adjacent to the media room. All the ensuites include steam showers and underfloor heating for added comfort. Guests enjoy a chef prepared breakfast at the property, along with lunch and après at one of Eleven’s private on-mountain chalets. Rates also include free access to the well-stocked organic whole food minibar, house alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Dinner is available on request for an additional charge.

However, most come for the opportunity to experience snowcat skiing in nearby Irwin. Famous for its cold-smoke powder and alpine bowls, Irwin is only accessible by snowcat or snowmobile during the winter months. Each morning guests are ferried to the resort in Eleven’s customised snowcats to enjoy over 1,000 acres of skiable terrain. Expect to enjoy 8-10 runs a day, with lunch and après served at one of the mountain chalets.
