The most accessible beaches in Borneo are found in Sabah, on the coastline around Kota Kinabalu. Whilst there may only be a handful of luxury properties, these are varied enough to cater to most tastes, ranging from more traditional beach resorts to rustic island hideaways.

For those who are keen for more adventure, there is also still plenty to do. Beneath the waves dwell a kaleidoscope of tropical fish and coral reefs, which can be explored on snorkelling or diving trips. Some of the resorts offer watersports and options for trekking in the rainforest. If you are on the coastline rather than on one of the islands, there are golf courses, and for anyone looking for more culture, it is possible to visit Kota Kinabalu.
