Best Time to Visit Antarctica
Travel in Antarctica is only possible during its summer season, from November to March. In these months, milder temperatures and extended daylight provide optimal conditions for exploration and wildlife viewing. Whilst Antarctica is the windiest continent on earth, during the summer, the winds abate considerably. Expect average temperatures from -6 to 10°C and long days with up to 20 hours of daylight at the height of the season.
Our Seasonal Guide

December to February
At the middle of the Antarctic summer, penguin chicks begin to hatch and whale sightings increase, as these majestic creatures migrate to Antarctic waters to feed. The days are remarkably long, bathing the continent in continuous daylight for 24 hours.
-
February to March
Late in the season, penguin chicks begin to fledge and make their way to the sea. Whale sightings are at their peak. With less ice, they are free to feed and surface in dramatic displays. The days grow shorter, painting the horizon with a canvas of vibrant oranges and pinks.
