Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has it all: tropical beaches, cooler mountainous terrain punctuated with waterfalls, incredible wildlife, tea plantations, fabulous food and diverse culture.

The coasts are tropical with many palm-lined sandy beaches and charming towns. The centre of the country is largely mountainous, has a cooler climate and is dotted with tea plantations and architectural reminders of the old British colonial era.

Sri Lanka has some spectacular ruins in the north of the country and its many national parks contain abundant wildlife, including monkeys, deer, buffaloes, elephants and even leopards. An adventurous destination, Sri Lanka is great for families, couples and single travellers alike.

Scott Dunn’s highlights for Sri Lanka:

  • For an insight into Sri Lanka’s tea making history, visit the Ceylon Tea Trails, a working tea estate; be sure to try the sumptuous afternoon tea in their colonial style gardens.
  • Explore Galle, famous for it’s fort, boutique shops and wealth of excellent local dining options. Amangalla is a highlight situated within the fort, taking you back in time to colonial era in 21st century comfort.
