Ed Drake

Ed Drake is a member of the British Alpine Ski Team, and current UK number 1 Alpine skier. From Kingston in Surrey, Ed can often be found somewhere in the mountains of Europe where he races for Great Britain.

Ed has always been fanatical about skiing, learning from the early age of three. He's been on the GB team for over five years and has stopped for nothing, except a couple of injuries forcing him out of practice.

Ed has been victorious since his career began, winning the British Junior Championship, followed by winning four out of five titles in the British Championships in 2008, becoming overall champion. His success nationally, combined with a promising result in the Europa Cup in Wengen, led to his first World Cup race. As part of a select five-man squad, the World Championships in Val d’Isère 2009 saw Ed finish within the top-thirty in two disciplines. The same year, he was the only male British Alpine skier to pre-qualify for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, where he came 38th in the men's downhill with a time of 1:57.91.

"I would like to have finished in the top-30 but top-40 is good. I skied well. I've dreamed about being at the Olympic Winter Games. It can't get much better than that. With me it's not about the here and now, it's about what's coming and what I expect over the next four years and beyond."

We wish Ed the best of luck over the next few years as he trains for the Winter Olympics in 2014.
