In the Alps, half term is now over for the French (which runs for the whole of February), so this is a great time to go skiing if you’re not travelling with children. If you prefer balmy climes at this time of year, the Caribbean is a delight, and the Maldives and Sri Lanka are in their prime season, as well as much of South East Asia, including Malaysia, Borneo, the Philippines and Vietnam. Japan is a treat in late March, too – this is when you can see the cherry blossom in all its glory - an omen for good fortune and an emblem for love. If you want to go on safari, Kenya and Tanzania are perfect for game viewing at this time, or if it’s culture and desert sands you’re after, try Egypt or Oman. Or visit the fascinating Galapagos islands, brimming with extraordinary wildlife.
