Description

When chalet Mathilda was completed in 2005, a new standard of luxury ski holidays was set. Service akin to that of a five star hotel and wellness facilities including an indoor swimming pool and steam room were combined in a brand new, spacious and chic private chalet.

Designed and built by the same architect who created our Flagship chalet Eagle's Nest, Mathilda continues to command a place among the very best chalets in Val d'Isère and the Alps by virtue of size, facilities, quality of finish and the style that stands the test of time, combining traditional Alpine style with the clean and crisp influences of today. Chalet Mathilda features not only an indoor swimming pool with jet stream but also a Hammam.

On the ground floor is the fabulous wellness area with indoor swimming pool with jet stream and hammam (steam room). There is also a TV room / study / playroom which adds a useful degree of versatility and can even be used for an extra occasional bed.

On the first floor are four bedrooms all with private bathrooms decorated with fine Italian tiles and crisp white porcelain. The bedrooms and living room feature a wealth of beams and panels of old reclaimed wood, which makes them truly unique.

On the second floor, an authentic stone fireplace compliments the spacious open plan living room and dining room and a large sun terrace adds to this already impressive area. The panoramic windows make the most of the dazzling alpine scenery. On the top floor is the fifth en-suite bathroom which is delight. Full of character and romance, it sits alone beneath the eaves and feels like staying in an original alpine chalet.

Service in Mathilda is personal yet professional and our team will go out of their way to ensure you have the perfect skiing holiday. The food will be tailored to your personal tastes by your private chef and will be well matched to our delicious house wines.

Located only a short walk or very short drive from the centre of Val dIsère, yet in a private a peaceful private estate, Chalet Mathilda offers the very best in chalet skiing holidays and will suit both adult groups and families perfectly. All of our chalets are non-smoking inside.

Accommodation

Chalet Mathilda has five bedrooms all featuring traditional wooden beams and Moroccan style ceilings. Four of the five bedrooms are on the first floor, making it ideal for families as parents and children can have neighbouring rooms. All bedrooms have TVs and Freesat, and the spacious master suite has an iPod dock, and benefits from both bath and separate shower. The lovely fifth room on the third floor under the eaves is also worthy of the "master" title. Each room has an en-suite bath or shower room decorated with a mixture of wood and modern slate tiles. All bedrooms have electronic safes.

Childcare

Scott Dunn pioneered skiing holidays with childcare and this is an optional extra that many families consider indispensable. We offer childcare from 4 months and ensure that children have the most fantastic holidays and that parents can completely relax with peace of mind that their family is in great hands. Your children can be taken to and collected from ski lessons and will be kept entertained with a varied and imaginative activity programme and given healthy home made lunches and snacks.

Our childcare staff are qualified professionals and guests at Solyneou benefit from our exclusive children's club. Babysitting is available too. A wide range of equipment for babies and toddlers can be provided to all guests on request, usually free of charge.

Facilities

On entering chalet Mathilda, you are greeted by the view of the fabulous Wellness area with the indoor swimming pool with jet stream and steam room. Also on the ground floor is the ski/boot area with boot warmers. The separate TV room is a great facility offering children their own space to play, watch TV or to use the X-Box 360. Alternatively it can be used to accommodate an extra person if your party is bigger than 10 or it can provide a quiet office space if required.

In the living area, Mathilda is equipped with flat screen, satellite TV, DVD player and sound system. There is also a selection of games.

Activities

Val d’Isère is a mecca for downhill skiing for good reason. It has enough to keep skiers of all standards challenged and entertained for a lifetime, let alone a week. The off piste potential is limitless and the snow record enviable.

Val d'Isère has plenty to offer less enthusiastic skiers too. The new Oxygen centre has fantastic facilities including 2 swimming pools, climbing wall, multi activity sports hall, fitness suite, gym, squash courts and a Wellness area with sauna, steam bath, spa, cold baths and hydro-massage.

Designated walking trails are a great way of appreciating the scenery and there is an ice rink, husky riding, parapenting, skidooing, cross country skiing and much more.

There is a wealth of quality restaurants in the village and on the mountain (many of which are accessible to non skiers). The shops and galleries offer some great shopping (both the window and the real varieties).

Services

Chalet Mathilda is complemented by our Premier service. Our team pride themselves on ensuring that service is seamless and anticipating your every need. Your private chef will serve mouthwatering dishes from a menu tailored to your tastes. Your hosts will manage your whole holiday, from restaurant bookings to ensuring a smart 4 wheel drive vehicle is ready to take you skiing and keeping your glass topped up with a carefully chosen wine or a perfectly mixed gin & tonic.

A la carte breakfast is served daily, gourmet dinners offered on six nights and wine, Champagne and spirits are included. Our driver service offers a fleet of 4x4s to whisk you around the resort. Organic bathroom products, slippers, towels and bathrobes await after a hard day on the slopes.

Above all, our Premier service is personal and we will endeavour to make your stay your perfect holiday.

When to travel

Val d’Isère boasts one of the longest ski seasons in the world because, unlike other resorts above 1800m, 80% of the skiing happens above 2000 metres. As a result, early and late season offer reliable great conditions. Being high, it is cold though and we think March and April are the best times to visit Val.
