Elegant walkways lead to eight suites decorated in high colonial style, each featuring a fireplace, antique furniture and canopied king size bed as well as a large bathroom with Victorian claw foot bath and indoor and outdoor showers. The Royal and Malewane Suites are some of the largest rooms in African lodges and offer an exclusive private hideaway with private chef, butler, sole-use game vehicle and four massages offered per suite per day. You can also relax in your own private pool, decks and gazebos.

Inviting open air lounge and dining areas sit below vaulted thatched roofs decorated with English furnishings, Persian rugs and African artefacts in keeping with the colonial feel. A luxurious spa positioned around the courtyard features treatment rooms, a fully equipped gymnasium, steam room, hot and cold African baths, jacuzzi and casitas where you can enjoy the treatment of your choice.

When to travel

There is no bad time to go on safari in the Kruger National Park. The experience does, however, change from month to month. In the summer months (October to March), it gets very hot. The verdant vistas are all the more spectacular because of the rains, but this means that the foliage is denser, water is more abundant and game is therefore trickier to see. There are lots of beautiful migratory birds during the summer months. While the daytime temperature in the winter months (May to September) is ideal, it does get a little chilly at night and in the early morning.
