  • Spacious accommodations scattered throughout lush gardens

  • Lies next to the Morro do Pico (Peak Hill), one of Fernando de Noronha’s most important landmarks

Description

Consisting of one main island and a few small volcanic islets in the Atlantic Ocean off the tip of Brazil's northeast coast, Fernando de Noronha is a wonderful escape from the modern world. The best diving in Brazil is found here, as well as some of the country's most beautiful beaches and plenty of wildlife including turtles and dolphins.

Pousada Ze Maria sits in perfect harmony with nature, and offers 20 simple but attractive bungalows each with a large veranda. All rooms have air conditioning and solar powered showers. The multi-tiered infinity swimming pool looks out to the sea, and the restaurant has a wide selection of Brazilian cuisine, focussing on dishes from the Northeast, and there is also a sushi bar.

Experience the thrill of scuba diving in waters with 40-metre visibility, snorkelling, surfing, trekking, turtle and dolphin watching, and trips to deserted beaches across the island.

Accommodation

Pousada Ze Maria features 18 ensuite bungalows divided into 3 spacious Special Bungalows with views towards Morro de Pico and the sea, 9 smaller private bungalows with private porch, and 6 standard rooms. All have ensuite facilities with solar heated showers (whirlpool in the Special Bungalows), air-conditioning, satellite TV and minibar.

Childcare

Children are welcome at the hotel, and babysitting can be arranged upon request, but there are no specific facilities or interconnecting rooms.

When to travel

Fernando de Noronha is a year round destination. There are two seasons in the island: dry (September through to March) and the rainy (April through to August). The average temperature in the area is 28°C.

For those willing to dive, September and October are the appropriate months because the sea is calm. For those willing to surf, January is the best month since waters are rougher.
