This is the centre of Lao culture and Lao Buddhism and the town is beautifully preserved with a picturesque mix of Buddhist temples and French colonial architecture. Amantaka is a charming property housed in a collection of colonial buildings and your three nights there includes:

  • Daily breakfast and a choice of lunch or dinner daily as well as house beverages
  • A traditional welcome Baci ceremony
  • A half-day guided walking tour through Luang Prabang
  • A river cruise and visit to the Pak Ou caves
  • A 60-min Lao traditional massage

Then fly directly to Siem Reap, home to the incredible temples of Angkor Wat. There is so much to see in and around the temples and a private guide will be on hand twice a day to accompany you. Spend three nights at Amansara, the former guesthouse of King Norodom Sihanouk and your stay will include:

  • Daily breakfast and a choice of lunch or dinner daily as well as house beverages
  • Morning or afternoon Khmer tea
  • Khmer style BBQ dinner
  • A private guided tour of galleries and shops (with appointments) in Siem Reap
  • Twice daily guided house outings to the Angkor temples

This is a fabulous combination of two incredible destinations and will give you a real feel for Indochina's past and present. It time allows then you could extend your time in Asia and perhaps add on some time on a tropical beach on the way home.

Itinerary

When to travel

The best time to visit Laos and Cambodia is from October to May. This is when the weather is driest and you can get the most out of the amazing temples and beautiful countryside. October to December is a particularly good time to visit as it is very green after the rainy season.
