Childcare
The Amirandes welcomes families with children and has facilities for all ages. Grecoland is a children’s playground and club, a brightly painted fairy tale world full of fun activities, games and competitions for ages 3 to 12 years. The club is open daily under the supervision of teachers. There is a children's pool and children's menu available, as well as high chairs, cots and babysitting services. The Tasty Corner offers a constant supply of fresh fruits, cakes, refreshments and ice creams. This is complimentary from 11:00 to 17:00; additionally there is also a Children’s Buffet from 12:30 to 13:30.
Babysitting can be arranged in guests' rooms whilst parents dine in the evening, and the a la carte restaurants have children's menus. There are shows and discos for children, and Amirandes can even organise a birthday party.

The Amirandes has three tennis courts, a basketball court and indoor football pitch. There is the exciting opportunity to try out windsurfing, sailing, canoeing and kayaking. The nearby Crete Golf Club features the only 18 hole course on the island and is set in stunning surroundings, they also offer a 'Golf Academy' for those wishing to learn or simply better their game. The Heraklion horse riding club offers lessons to all ages and tours of the beautiful local scenery.
For those who love the water, Amirandes is a water-paradise. The hotel features an Olympic-sized seawater pool set within a palm-fringed garden, a children’s pool, heated indoor fresh water pool and over 60 private swimming pools. When to travel
The climate in Crete is warm and sunny for the majority of the year with the risk of the odd shower of rain and some cooler periods over the winter. From April/May onwards the weather settles but it can sometimes be cool in the evenings. By mid/end of May, the weather generally settles in a pattern of long hot sunny days and balmy evenings especially in July and August when it can be very hot. Rain is unlikely but it can happen from time to time. May and October are particularly pleasurable months.

Amirandes is on the north east coast of Crete, 23km from the capital, Heraklion and 18km from Heraklion airport. Guests can visit Knossos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is located near Heraklion.
How to get there
There are direct flights from London Gatwick with Easyjet, taking about 4.5hrs. Or you can fly British Airways to Athens, then Olympic Airways to Heraklion, taking about 6.5 hours. It is then a 20 minute private transfer to Amirandes.
